I never considered the Kingman's Bluff scene! You're right, there are definite parallels; once again my subconscious is at work full time. It was odd, wasn't it? And not really in keeping with the mood of the rest of the story, but by the time I got to this chapter I was just following the characters along, more than directing them myself.

I write a scene in a later story (Dana's Secret) in which Dana hears Spike's voice and has to fight down a rise of slayer memories; maybe I'll do something similar with her and Robin one day.
