What I love so much about this chapter is your presentation of Spike and his ability to love unconditionally, his love for Dawn mirroring his love of Drusilla, and foreshadowing his speech to Buffy in 'Touched'.

Having said that, this is no 'romanticised' view of Spike. the impulsive need to react to immediate stimulus, the nervous energy that pressed him to move on from one thing to the next. Hthe real Spike leaps from the page, warts and all.
