In many ways I was going caricatures in this fic--picking what I felt were the strongest characteristics of the individuals and exaggerating them.

I think with most art, that when you try to paint the essence, rather than the prosaic, you come up with the truest portrait.

Plus, of course, I had so many metaphors going that I can't remember them all myself!
