The story so Far: In The Replacement, Season 5, Spike refers to "the charming lady who runs a teashop in the local garbage dump". So meet Agnes Pringle, English spinster and very reluctant vampire. At the moment, Agnes has opened a Tearooms in Sunnydale High Street, with the money inherited from her ex boyfriend, Richard Wilkins III. Buffy has died, Dawn is working as a part time waitress in the tearooms and she and Spike are planning to deliver home made food round Sunnydale on Spike's new motorbike. Yes, Season 6 has arrived!

Chapter 31

Everything Changes

Agnes Pringle didn’t believe in second sight, visions or out of body experiences. Well, in a way she’d been out of her real body for a long time, so perhaps the last didn’t count. A lot of her old acquaintances back in England had been interested in Spiritualism and Agnes had even accompanied them one evening to a séance in the home of a Mrs Bachelor.

Nobody had ‘come through’ to Agnes from The Other Side, which her friends blamed on her inability to relax and let Things Happen. Agnes had to admit that she had been so appalled at the quality of the biscuits Mrs Bachelor had served with their cups of tea and her own extreme reluctance to speak to her departed mother – who would only have found fault with her – that she had found relaxing difficult. And the only time in her life she had relaxed and let Things Happen, she’d ended up a vampire, so she’d always looked upon that as something to be avoided where necessary.

No, Agnes – a baptized and confirmed member of the Church of England, she had a handwritten card from the Bishop of Winchester to prove it – believed in God and Heaven and found that was quite enough. Even after her unfortunate experience in Hollywood all those years ago, she was convinced He would look out for her because It Hadn’t Been Her Fault! So why, on this particular evening, did she feel that something dreadful was about to happen?

The story so far: In 1943, with Dru's life forfeit, Spike is forced to fly to France to rescue a Slayer. In Sunnydale, Buffy, newly returned from the grave, is persuaded by Quentin Travers to time travel back to France to rescue a Slayer and prevent a vampire from killing her. Buffy does not know the vampire is William the Bloody, and that the charm to return her to her own time does not work.

We Will Remember Them….

By Lilachigh

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Chp 11 Food for thought

France:

Buffy Summers lay on her stomach and wriggled through the long grass, trying to keep her head down so the lower branches of the bushes didn’t tangle in her hair. Insects were stinging any of her flesh they could reach and she could feel sweat running down her face even in the chilly night. It was pitch black here, deep in the undergrowth where the moonshine didn’t reach, a fact that obviously didn’t worry Spike at all. She could just make out the patterns on the soles of his boots as he crawled along in front of her.

Suddenly he stopped and she eased herself alongside him, trying to ignore the signals her body was valiantly sending to her brain Spike – body – Spike – touch – now! “What is it?” she muttered, her mouth close to his ear.

He turned his head, his mouth only centimetres from hers. “Could you possibly shout any louder, Slayer? I don’t think they heard you in Berlin!”

She glared at him and whispered, “I very much doubt the Nazis have vampire hearing! What have you seen?”

Carefully he pushed back a branch and Buffy stared out into the darkness. At first she could see nothing, then realised that only yards away at the bottom of a steep slope, a jeep with swastikas painted on the side was parked on a narrow track. Two German soldiers were standing by the side of it, talking, the rank smoke from their cigarettes curling up in the still night air.

“Two there – and another wanker inside the jeep.”

“Which way is the plane? Can’t we cut across the track behind them?”

She felt Spike shrug and instinctively knew he was about to lie to her. “If we use the track it’ll cut miles off the trip, Slayer. Sun’ll be up in a couple of hours. I’ll need shelter by then.”
