Ah, thanks a lot - now I've learned something new! It's always fascinating to learn about how the day-to-day life of people has changed over the years. (But let's say that if vampires existed, that would somehow have caused pineapples to become popular about 20 years earlier, haha.)
Come to think of it, one could probably make a case for the difference between the two generations of the Fanged Four being that they're from different times. Both Darla and Angel were human in times when technology simply wasn't much of a factor; you had to do everything yourself, and everything took time - and so it was worth taking time for. Generally speaking, the world didn't change from one generation to another. Spike (and to some extent Drusilla, had she been saner) on the other hand, is a child of the industrial revolution and so doesn't mind taking quick, perhaps not always well thought-out but efficient (or violent) solutions, and also recognizes the need to change with the times... I digress.
