I'd thought Spike to be in the area of 170, but I learned after writing the story that there's some controversy over his actual age, with many people putting him as younger. In any case, I deliberately had Robin speak in generalities, as a way of showing he didn't care to consider Spike in any human terms at all.
As for walking away, if Spike was right in front of him I don't think he could have done it. But Robin, from a very young age, has been "all about the mission". Having failed to get the eggs at this point, he's determined to get Kara to safety, regroup, and consider his next step. That would be to find Spike and the eggs, but he suspects Spike has already fled the hospital, which means getting out himself; and that means trusting Riley.
