Xander avoided mirrors. He washed, shaved, brushed his hair – all by habit. It wasn’t the black eye-patch itself that upset him so much as struggling with the ridiculous strand of hope that refused to go away – if he lifted up the shield, his eye would have miraculously returned.
After all, he reasoned, Buffy had come back from the dead - twice. He’d even heard a rumour that Spike was alive in Los Angeles. Merciful Zeus - Willow had returned to the real world from being all veiny and evil. Was one little eye really too much to ask for?
